  • Off mandrel flat beads are hard to pull raku colors out of
  • Off mandrel flat beads can pit easily
  • Off mandrel flat beads burn your fingers if you don’t pay attention to every angle
  • Burnt fingers hurt more as they get closer to the flame
  • I needed an extra hour of sleep

  • Wishing stones are a great way to play with color mixing
  • EDP and copper green look great together unetched as well if you watch to make sure there is no reduction flae and care for the EDP

  • Enamels go dark and dull quickly

  • Two rods of yellow from the same batch can come out different colors
  • Rocio silver glass on striking yellow really pops
  • A base color, then clear, then silver glass, them clear makes an ethereal floating color

  • Copper green makes an ok vine on grey- but keep it thin and don’t let it spread- maybe encase next time
  • Ivory  looks great on grey, dark red brown looks great on ivory - but dark red brown on ivory on grey makes an ugly attempt at a Christmas floral
  • Alabaster periwinkle looks good on pea green - black is not the best accent though
  • EDP looks great on copper green- copper green doesn’t look so great on EDP

  • EDP bleeds on dark ivory
  • stringer work- keep moving
  • stringer work - don’t let the flame hit past the juncture of stringer and bead or you may get a meltdown blob
  • Tangerine makes great swirls on orange sherbet colored coral (no idea which variation- my workspace is a coral rainbow right now)
