What I learned yesterday
-I shouldn’t get too cocky about clear encasing
-I wish overdraft protection was not one of my requirements in a bank
-I love to shop for glass
-I should not try to melt a dichro strip straight into the fire (darnit!)
-With my current set-up, Bullseye strips are pretty, but a bit gummy
-Bulk buys in the garage sale may help my packrat problem by making me buy less
-I am more tied to the title of my job than I thought I was
-Some nights you just make bad beads

What I learned last night:
-Trees can have red trunks
-Remember the ends when doing sculptural – I need to keep relearning that one
-When you can’t decide between three cheeses, it’s perfectly acceptable to use them all
-Polishing the turd is fine as long as you don’t expect it to look good in the end
-It pays to ask suppliers if they have a volume discount
-Round the world encasing is just a hollow with no missing parts
-Muses are wonderful things
-Luster powder layered under shiny new glass looks really cool
-Luster powder needs to be carefully checked for missing spots
-Sets hurt my brain

What I learned last night-
-Baking soda is fun
-Baking soda is easily over done
-No matter how many times I try, raku on pale amber will look like dirt
-Clear encasing on a HH takes much longer, but is kind of relaxing
-Small hollows are as fun as big hollows, but take more babysitting to make sure they puff
-Four year olds make the best poets
-I stay up too late
-Dark trans aquamarine over pea green looks green
-Luster powder uneven looks pretty wonky
-I have trouble with color mixing in the purple/turquoise family
-Notes are helpful, but should be organized
-It takes a loose mind to create the multi-colored, multi-effect style I love seeing artists like Anne Rickets create

What i learned this weekend:
-Low propane pressure makes a frustrating speed level, and a beautiful encasement
-Wine red turns too translucent as a petal over a clear base
-Acid yellow over carrot red makes a pretty, bold flower
-I need to take notes of ideas and of experiments
-I need a built in impulse checker to stop me from making unneeded purchases
-The first grilled cheeseburgers of the season are droolworthy
-I am not a patient person (yeah, I know that, you know that- but I like to forget)
-I can’t tell colors apart once they’ve been stringered
-I should not be scared to squish a little more just because a couple have cracked down the middle
-If I mix up the only two dark reds I own- I can’t tell them apart again
-A large bead banged against a metal lamp makes a very satisfying ring

-Pock marked brass will not leave a nice finish on a glass bead
-Lattichino is fun to make, more difficult to use successfully
-Pale amber disappears next to grass green
-Iris yellow will spread like a goldfish to space available
-Walleye don’t run in low water
-Dog nail clippers will cut 1/16 mandrel
-I could become an exchange addict
-I need to build something to display purchased and exchanged beads
-The beginnings of the elongated bead thanks to a tip JC wrote elsewhere in the forum (thanks!)
-Don’t listen to the glassblower who tells you marbles are good presents for a four year old

Quiet night-
Good morning all. I had a fun night last night playing with new colors.

I’ve learned I need to either learn to strike straw yellow or just keep using it as stringer- because I have some seriously ugly color going on in test beads.

I’ve learned just because my first couple encasings turned out pretty, doesn’t mean I can replicate that at will without dirty, sooty marks- I need a buzzer on my arm before i go to close the the flame…

I’ve learned there are really subtle differences in oranges

I’ve learned I LOVE the alabaster rose color

I’ve learned to watch the make a wish thread- I found someone to trade some frit for some luster I’d love to play with

I’ve learned 4 year olds think my caterpillar beads look like snakes

I’ve learned 4 year olds think my goddesses are faces- guess where the eyes are

I’ve learned i have a wonderful husband who knows it’s a nice idea to make sure I can let off steam by playing with glass as a work release (I knew this, but reminders are always nice)
